Attended the University of Iowa on two University of Iowa Scholarships. She was a member of the University of Iowa Honor Society and was named to the Dean's List in January 1988, May 1988, and May 1989. Received her B.A. in May of 1989.

Attended the University of Iowa College of Law receiving her Juris Doctorate degree in May of 1992
